Jay Mundy, CIPE, CPD, is the plumbing/mechanical section supervisor for the city of Phoenix, AZ, and has been with the city for nearly 30 years. Mundy holds a Plumbing Engineer's Certification from the American Society of Plumbing Engineers, in addition to a bachelor's degree, master's degree, commercial pilot's license and flight instructor certificate. For the last three decades, he has taught at a number of community colleges in the Phoenix area, guiding students through the UPC Plumbing Code class. Mundy also has served as treasurer and board member of the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), and has served on numerous IAPMO committees, including more than 20 years with the Interpretations Committee. He can be reached at jay.mundy@phoenix.gov.
I recently read Guy Tomberlin's thoughtful commentary regarding the attempt at a joint venture between IAPMO and ICC, the purpose being to consolidate their respective plumbing and mechanical codes into something acceptable to both.
