It is once again time to gather nominations for PM Engineer’s Next Gen All Stars Top 20 Under 40 list.

BNP Media’s Plumbing Group — PM Engineer, Plumbing & Mechanical and Supply House Times — got the idea to spotlight the best and brightest young guns after the constant talk our editorial team kept hearing about the “graying” of the plumbing industry. While it is a legitimate concern, there are plenty of young people making a difference in all aspects of the plumbing field. So we launched the inaugural Top 20 Under 40 contest last year and kept our fingers crossed that we would get submissions.

Turns out, we were blown away by the plumbing industry’s response. Our inaugural class of Next Gen All Stars included a great mix of plumbing engineers and designers, firm owners, code officials, manufacturers and rep agencies. People like 24-year-old Lhymwell Manalo, a plumbing designer with SmithGroup, who was drawn into engineering from his love of math and now gets to work side by side with his father at the same company; or 39-year-old Robert Gelhardt II, who fell in love with engineering as it pertains to heat transfer and fluid flow and opened his own firm a decade ago; or 36-year-old John Mullen, a fourth-generation plumber now working as IAPMO’s director of technical training. These individuals are truly among the best and brightest in their chosen professions. Check out the full list of winners here.

Last year definitely had an impressive list, but we are certain there are more people out there deserving of this recognition. So this year, we hope to build on our success and recognize 20 new individuals who are really making a difference in the industry. And we need your help to do so.
