In March, Michael Wich was appointed to the ICC’s Board of Directors. He currently is the director of building code administration and chief building official for the South Central Planning and Development Commission in Houma, La.

“As a code official, engineer and former homebuilder, Michael is a well-qualified and experienced professional who brings a diverse skillset to our Board of Directors,” said ICC Board President Alex Olszowy III, of the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government in Lexington, Ky. “He is a tireless advocate for code officials and our mission of helping construct safe, sustainable, affordable and more resilient communities.”

In other ICC news, the group is working with the SES – Society of Standards Professions in the distribution of two major resources designed to assist standards developing organizations. The two publications are:

  • ANSI/SES-1:2013 Recommended Practice for Designation and Organization of Standards; and
  • SES-2:2012 Model Procedure for the Development of Standards.

The publications provide guidance for those interested in the effective creation and implementation of standards. They are available through ICC at www.iccsafe.org/SES.

“These new resources provide guidance for standard developers and others involved in defining the standards for safety, innovation and resilience in the built environment,” ICC Chief Executive Officer Dominic Sims said. “Through continued improvement in the development of standards that protect the public’s welfare and safety, we want to improve speed to market and encourage economic growth through better coordination between industry, design and compliance professionals.”
