Timothy A. Smith, formerly a partner at Metro Design, has created Engineered Building Solutions/LLC, a new company dedicated to providing plumbing and aquatics services, including:
  • consulting
  • building development
  • project management
  • standards development
  • and code consulting.

“The more things change, the more they stay the same,” said Smith, “and no where is that more true than in construction. My emphasis is aimed toward listening to the client’s needs, and trying to satisfy them to the best of my abilities.” Engineered Building Solutions/LLC initially will focus on plumbing and aquatics design to help architects, designers, manufacturers, other engineering firms, and builders to have access to the latest thinking in planning their plumbing projects.

Smith, who is a board member for the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE), will serve as president, and Monica Smith will serve as CEO. He pointed out that his new company will be able to offer a full line of comprehensive services - from project inception to project management through project close-out.

“We intend to use our consulting skills to support the industry,” Smith said, including consulting directly with architects, engineers, manufacturers and builders on all matters related to construction for Institutional, Commercial, Churches, Financial Institutions, Healthcare Facilities, Mission Critical Facilities, Restaurants, and Retail establishments.”

“We’re going to be very proactive,” Smith added, “and have structured ourselves in a way that allows us to handle the design load of larger projects while still being able to provide the necessary attention to detail on smaller ones. Plumbing consulting becomes particularly complex when a client’s requirements change. For example, it’s never just a matter of replacing old pipes on a renovation. The plumbing consultant has to be aware of how the project requirements interface with the entire structure. We do that, and more.”
