The Plastic Pipe and Fittings Association (PPFA) welcomed Bruce G. Kuiken of the American Plastics Council (APC) to its 2003 Spring Meeting February 22-25 at Marriott's Las Palmas Resort, Rancho Mirage, CA. Kuiken discussed the growth of the green building movement and the role APC hopes to play in educating the public about the environmental benefits of plastics and positioning plastics favorably in the development of green building standards.

Green building was a continuing topic of discussion throughout the meetings of the Association's Product Line Committees (PLC) as they developed strategies for addressing this movement.

Additional programming at the 2003 Spring Meeting featured presentations by Wayne A. Merrifield, manager, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, Hercules Chemical Co., and Jack McDonald, president of LASCO Fittings, Inc., detailing the development and implementation of their award-winning corporate safety programs. Both companies were recipients of PPFA's First Annual Processor Safety Awards at the 2002 Fall Meeting. In a separate presentation to the PVC Product Line Committee, Steve Brien, Chemical Market Associates, Inc., offered general economic and energy outlooks, as well as the outlook for chlor alkalis and vinyls.
