Earth Tech Inc. recently marked the start of formal operations at the Loch Calder Water Treatment Works in Caithness, Scotland.

Earth Tech Inc., a business unit of Tyco Engineered Products & Services, and global provider of consulting, engineering and construction services, recently marked the start of formal operations at the Loch Calder Water Treatment Works in Caithness, Scotland, with an opening ceremony attended by His Royal Highness Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay.

During the event, the Prince unveiled a marker made of Caithness flagstone to commemorate the opening of Scottish Water's new treatment plant, which replaces one that his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, dedicated in 1955.

Delta Scotland, a joint venture between AWG Construction Services Limited and Earth Tech, also built approximately 50 miles (80 kilometers) of pipeline to deliver the water from the facility to the communities it serves, as well as two service reservoirs and three booster pumping stations.

The work on the North Coast Regional Scheme, which includes the new Loch Calder Water Works, is part of Scottish Water's USD $3.3 billion nationwide Capital Investment Program designed to bring Scotland's water supply to current standards while delivering greater efficiency, cost benefits and better quality water.
