Diesel generators have long been the preferred option for facilities operators for extended backup power, but that mostly unused stranded power isn’t an ideal allocation of resources. Diesel generators and other stranded assets are not always on and may not perform as expected in the case of an outage. Using diesel fuel also requires onsite fuel storage and adds to a facility’s carbon footprint through Scope 1 emissions, leading many operators to seek alternatives that can positively contribute to an organization’s sustainability goals.
As grid infrastructure evolves, it has become increasingly important for mission-critical facilities to find reliable sources of energy that can handle significant events or fuel access restrictions.
