Hundreds of plumbing industry professionals gathered in Bellevue, Washington on Sept. 28 – Oct. 1 for the 2023 American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) Tech Symposium, the premier professional development event for plumbing engineers and designers. Continuing a strong tradition of success, this year’s event attracted more than 700 total attendees, placing it in the top 5 of all ASPE Tech Symposiums since the biennial conference began.

The 2023 ASPE Tech Symposium kicked off with the popular Product Show on Thursday evening, where more than 70 industry manufacturers and service providers displayed their latest innovations at the Hyatt Bellevue. While enjoying light food and beverages, attendees browsed the exhibits and engaged in technical discussions with the product engineers, discovering how to best specify and apply the latest plumbing products in their designs. From the feedback received, booth traffic was busy and sustained, offering the exhibitors valuable facetime with ASPE members.

After the Product Show concluded early Friday afternoon, the 2.5-day Technical Education Program began. Attendees crowded the session rooms to gain new skills and discuss the latest trends with expert speakers from all facets of the industry. The timely topics included waterborne pathogen control, 2024 code updates, water management compliance, heat pump design, water reuse strategies, and more.

Prior to the 2023 ASPE Tech Symposium, ASPE Young Professionals (AYP) held its biennial Leadership Academy, sponsored by Zurn, where dozens of plumbing designers gathered to learn practical skills that promote healthy, authentic, and respectful work relationships. Attendees also relaxed and renewed relationships with their peers at the Welcome Party on Friday night, sponsored by Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Co.

“I’d like to thank our Tech Symposium Sponsors, as their generous backing is what makes this event possible, as well as our talented speakers and the engineers and designers who took time out of their busy schedules to join us in Bellevue,” says ASPE President, Jim Zebrowski, PE, CPD, FASPE. “If you couldn't attend, we did miss you, and we hope you can make it to the 2024 Convention & Expo in Columbus, Ohio.”

The 2024 ASPE Convention & Expo will be held in Columbus, Ohio on Oct. 18–23, and registration will open in the spring. You can learn more and start planning at expo.aspe.org.
