Heather Platt, P.E., a senior project manager at Dewberry, has been appointed to the Facility Guideline Institute’s Health Guidelines Revision Committee (HGRC) for the 2019-2020 term. She represents the North Piedmont Chapter of ASHRAE. Platt has been in the mechanical engineering industry for nearly 25 years, and has been an active ASHRAE member for 21 years. She manages healthcare-related projects out of Dewberry’s Raleigh, North Carolina office.

Also at Dewberry, Joseph Masiello, P.E., CEM, LEED AP, has joined the firm as an associate vice president in the New York City office. Masiello brings more than 30 years of experience to the firm, and will lead the New York City mechanical, engineering and fire-protection group.

Corrosion and Air Vents: NFPA 13 Code Requirements

This program will address technical changes specific to corrosion and air vents for the 2016 and 2019 editions of NFPA 13. The 2016 NFPA adds a new code requirement that a single air vent is installed for each wet sprinkler system to help reduce potential corrosion activity due to trapped air, and this requirement stays in the 2019 edition.
