• The Dodge Momentum Index fell 1% in May to 141 (2000=100) from the revised April reading of 142.4. The index, issued by Dodge Data & Analytics, is a monthly measure of the first (or initial) report for nonresidential building projects in planning, which have been shown to lead construction spending for nonresidential buildings by a full year. The May decline for the index was due entirely to a 6.9% drop by its commercial component. The institutional component rose 8.1%.

  • Bradley Corp. recently revealed the results of its 10th annual healthy hand washing survey. Bradley’s survey shows 21% of respondents use a public restroom at least 6 times if not 15 or more a week.

  • The Bradley survey shows 64% of respondents have made a conscious decision to frequent a business based on the fact it has cleaner, well-maintained restrooms.

  • In another interesting revelation from the Bradley survey, one in three respondents (33%) say they would be willing to pay to use a clean, well-stocked restroom.

  • Sloan recently produced an infographic about transportation facility restrooms with tips for handling large amounts of daily traffic, while doing it with sustainability and style. For starters, Sloan points out in one survey 20 minutes is the post-arrival window where restroom usage is likely to peak. Sloan suggests using this rule to help factor in peak surge times with highest simultaneous arrivals.
