The American Society of Plumbing Engineers has hired Ramiro Mata to the role of senior director of technical and regulatory affairs. Mata will represent ASPE’s interests and the plumbing engineering community in code and standards activities. He’ll also serve as a technical resource for the ASPE staff and membership.

“Ramiro’s experience and well-earned respect in the plumbing engineering industry are invaluable to ASPE continuing to increase value and services for our members,” said ASPE Executive Director/CEO Billy Smith, FASPE. “ASPE has been building its presence in the codes and standards arena for several years, and with Ramiro on the team the Society will have a fulltime staff member devoted to strengthening the voice of plumbing engineers/designers in the development of consistent, safe plumbing codes and standards.”

Mata joins the ASPE staff after a 29-year engineering career in electrical utility, medical device manufacturing, and plumbing product certification. He has been involved with codes and standards development as a staff engineer with ASSE International and as a senior test engineer, technical sales specialist and global strategic account manager/industrial relations in the Plumbing and Construction Business Unit with CSA Group. He has been a member of ASPE since 2013 and is currently in ASPE’s Cleveland Chapter.
