Three companies have acquired licenses from AK Coatings to coat fabricated HVAC products with the company's AgION antimicrobial compound.

Increased demand for cleaner heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems has prompted three companies to acquire licenses from AK Coatings to coat fabricated HVAC products with the AgION antimicrobial compound. Under the agreements, Curran International, MJC Incorporated and AST/Acme Coatings & Linings can now apply coatings containing the AgION antimicrobial compound to steel HVAC components.

The process, known as shop coating, allows manufacturers to coat fabricated products with AK Coatings' paint system containing the antimicrobial compound. Clear- and blue-tinted paint systems are now available. This allows each company to apply the compound to existing products and let it air dry. This expands AK Coatings' offering, which includes antimicrobial-coated steel coils. The steel coils can also be coated with fully pigmented paint systems.
