The Power VT from PVI is a vertically configured, steel fire tube boiler constructed to Section IV of the ASME code. The combustion chamber on the Power VT is located above the appliance, and combustion gases are pulled downward through the boiler tubes by an induced-draft blower located at the base of the unit. The 28 hp unit offers improved efficiency by increasing the amount of heating surface per boiler horsepower, which allows flue gases to cool below the dewpoint in condensing mode, and captures the latent heat released as water in the flue gas change phase.
