• Nationwide architecture, engineering and planning firm SmithGroupJJR hired Luka Ulicevic, CPD, as its plumbing designer for its Chicago office. Ulicevic recently was the plumbing and fire protection department leader at Chicago’s PositivEnergy Practice. In his new role, he will develop the plumbing engineering discipline and expand the office’s offerings.

• Aliza Skolnik, a senior associate at San Francisco-based Environmental Systems Design, earned a provisional WELL Accredited Professional credential through the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI).  The WELL Building Standard is the first protocol of its kind to focus on human wellness within the built environment. Skolnik provides engineering solutions attempting WELL certification, such as complex features to air quality, water quality, thermal comfort and more.

• The American Society of Plumbing Engineers announced that industry veteran Brian Henry is the group’s new director of affiliate relations. Henry will replace the retiring David Jern.

• Five employees from the Applied Water Systems business unit of Xylem recently were recognized by the Hydraulic Institute for their longtime service to and involvement in the organization. Xylem employees honored were Mark Handzel, Mark Heiser, Paul Ruzicka, Chris Johnson and Jim Roberts.
