Rob Zimmerman, LEED-AP, is currently the senior
staff engineer for Water Conservation Initiatives at Kohler Co. Zimmerman is
involved with all aspects of water conservation related to plumbing fixtures
and faucets. Some of his responsibilities include working with government
regulators and water utilities on water conservation program development,
helping professionals in the green building industry understand how to design
water-efficient buildings, and supporting and growing Kohler’s line of water-efficient
plumbing products. He is a member of AWWA and the Wisconsin Water Resources
Association, regularly participates in meetings of the Plumbing Manufacturers
Institute and California Urban Water Conservation Council, and is a member of
the steering committee that helped advise EPA on the formation of its new
water-efficient product labeling program called WaterSense.
Specifying the right products is crucial if engineers are to meet the dual challenge of lowering operating costs and maintaining occupants’ safety and comfort.
