Over the last 30 years, I have attempted to bring the readers into the middle of the code change hearings to understand the process as plumbing and mechanical code requirements are developed and implemented.
Last month, we discussed using a non-pressurized thermal storage tank, in combination with brazed plate heat exchangers in a system supplied by a cordwood gasification boiler.
The goal is to include approximately 30 members for each committee that represent a diverse array of experience in building types and energy efficiency strategies, as well as racial, gender and socio-economic diversity.
While the hearings are virtual, the committees will actually be live at the ICC Central Regional Office in Country Club Hills, Illinois. The committee, ICC staff and moderators will all be operating from the office, while everyone else participates virtually.
Most plumbing manufacturers thought when DOE proposed the rule, it was nice but had very little chance of being finalized. That is why it was so shocking when on Dec. 8, 2020, the final rule was signed into law.
