Sloan, a manufacturer of commercial plumbing systems, announced Dr. Paul Sambanis as its new vice president of sustainability.

Sambanis’ role focuses on developing, implementing, and monitoring sustainability goals throughout the organization, while generating new opportunities to improve environmental performance and compliance.

Sambanis joins Sloan after six years at Henkel Corp. as its North America sustainability and environment manager where he managed a sustainability program that acted on global initiatives for 26 manufacturing facilities across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

Prior to his work at Henkel, Sambanis was the interim Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) manager at UOP, LLC (a subsidiary of Honeywell), as well as a regulatory ambassador at True Value.

In addition to his new role with Sloan, Sambanis currently works as an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where his tenure exceeds 10 years. He develops course content, research materials for publications and environmental justice, sustainability, and resilience planning conference presentations for the University.

“As a lifelong advocate of sustainability, I am so excited to join a company like Sloan that places such a high priority on sustainable practices and water conservation throughout its entire supply chain,” said Sambanis. “I can’t wait to get to work as we continue to innovate new ways to ensure our products are sustainable, while creating tools to help our customers’ sustainability efforts.”

“We’re thrilled to have someone of Paul’s pedigree on the Sloan team,” said Kirk Allen, Sloan co-president and CEO. “Sustainability is at the core of everything we do at Sloan, and we’re excited for Paul to lead that effort.”

As part of his responsibilities at Sloan, Sambanis will also work as the liaison for the United States Green Building Council and International Well Building Institute, while providing LEED and WELL guidance.
