How long have you been in the PHCP-PVF industry?
AA: Including my experience in the United Kingdom, 10 years.

What drew you into the industry?
AA:
After relocating, I noticed there seemed to be many job vacancies in the plumbing and heating industry. It is a great industry to get into with plenty of career-developing opportunities — I cannot see myself ever changing industries.

What is the most rewarding aspect of working in the industry?
AA:
Being able to educate people on all levels about new technology, seeing people understand it and watching the development of that technology across the industry. It is great to be a part of a solution-driven, innovative brand.

What is one thing you wish more people knew/understood about the PHCP-PVF industry?
AA:
I think younger generations are not seeking careers in the plumbing industry because it is not an industry that typically requires a university degree to enter. It is often looked down upon because most youngsters are driven to go to university to obtain a “highly valued” career. This perception is so wrong.

People can enter the PHCP industry in various ways, and it offers many different roles, meaning your skills can be matched to a suitable career path. This industry can be entered with no university debt while offering an abundance of career opportunities and progression — if you’re willing to work hard for it. I wish more people knew that the trades hold fantastic careers to aspire to be in.

What has been the proudest moment in your career so far?
AA:
It would have to be completing a four-year-long degree while working full-time in this industry. I would say what continuously makes me proud is the level of independence that is required of me to fulfill my role; I am throwing myself into constant challenges.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
AA:
In my spare time, I like to cook. My evenings and weekends often revolve around what food I’m going to cook, which often includes making homemade pasta.

Why she was chosen as a Next Gen All Star Top 20 Under 40 winner:
“I began working with Antonia about nine months ago when I started my career at ADEY as the marketing executive for North America, based in the United Kingdom. Working with Antonia right from the very start of my time with ADEY, it became apparent to me very quickly how unbelievably knowledgeable she is not only about ADEY products, but also about the HVAC industry and hydronic water treatment in general. Not only that, Antonia is one of the warmest, friendliest and giving people I have met; she spent a lot of time helping me get to know the North American HVAC market, as well as guiding me on the different demonologies in language for North America, compared to the UK. I love working with Antonia as she is so incredibly enthusiastic about everything — any ideas I come up with, she is always so willing to try new things to help educate the HVAC industry on the huge benefits of hydronic water treatment,” says Sarah Miles, marketing executive, ADEY.
