International Energy Conservation Code celebrates its 20th anniversary
ICC is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the International Energy Conservation Code in 2018. The IECC covers the design of energy-efficient building envelopes and installation of mechanical, lighting and power systems through requirements emphasizing performance. The IECC is in use throughout the U.S., member nations of the Caribbean Community, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
ICC noted the IECC has saved consumers more than $44 billion and avoided 36 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions. The U.S. Department of Energy expects between 2010 and 2040 the model building energy codes will save businesses and homeowners up to $126 billion in energy costs.
