Travelers Rest, S.C.-based foodservice and commercial plumbing product manufacturer T&S Brass took steps to reduce its carbon footprint with the installation of a solar panel farm at company headquarters.

The 207-kW system will offset 15% of the power consumed at the manufacturing facility, the company noted. The solar panel arrays were installed at the end of 2017. This project is a continuation of T&S Brass’ long-running efforts toward environmentally-friendly and sustainable manufacturing. Other projects include an extensive recycling program for cardboard, plastic shrink wrap and office paper; the recycling of coolant and brass chips used during the manufacturing process; and energy-efficient upgrades to the lighting and heating and cooling operations.

These projects have helped the company lower it carbon footprint by 5% year over year for the last several years, according to T&S Brass.
