May will be the International Code Council’s 37th annual Building Safety Month and in 2017 the theme will be Code Officials: Partners in Community Safety and Economic Growth.
During May, the more than 60,000 ICC members along with other industry professionals will hold events such as school assemblies, information booths at supply stores, and implementing proclamation signing ceremonies to increase awareness about building and remodeling modern codes and standards.
There will be weekly themes throughout the month. They are:

Week 1 (May 1-7) is Mentoring the Next Generation of Building Professionals;

Week 2 (May 8-14) is Building Design Solutions for All Ages;

Week 3 (May 15-21) is Manage the Damage — Preparing for Natural Disasters; and

Week 4 (May 22-28) is Investing in Technology for Safety, Energy and Water Efficiency.
