Home » IAPMO, PMI commend House’s passage of WaterSense legislation
Both IAMPO and PMI applaud the U.S. House of Representatives for the passage of H.R. 8, the North American Energy Security and Infrastructure Bill of 2015. The bill is a comprehensive energy package including provisions relating to heating and cooling standards as well as WaterSense authorization.
The legislation, which now is in the U.S. Senate, takes the step of officially authorizing WaterSense at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. If the bill is enacted, the EPA also would be responsible for establishing a documentation procedure, overseeing third-party certification and preventing the misuse of the label in the marketplace. Another important piece of the WaterSense provision is ensuring there are no conflicting or duplicative requirements between the Department of Energy’s EnergyStar program and WaterSense.
