The specifics: Grace Construction Products provided more than 866,000 sq. ft. of Preprufe waterproofing membrane during the construction of Ireland’s new home for international rugby and soccer matches. Aviva Stadium, completed in 2010 and able to host 51,700 spectators, utilized Preprufe’s synthetic adhesive layers and Grace’s patented Advanced Bond Technology to help the concrete form a seal to stop water migration between the stadium structures and the waterproofing membrane. The stadium also used more than 75,000 meters of Bituthene 8000 self-adhesive waterproofing membrane. The Bituthene was applied to retaining walls around the stadium seating and has been tested to withstand more than 70 meters of water when fully supported. The waterproofing job was extended to include the pedestrian underpass and access tunnel to the underground car park. Grace supplied Adprufe 100 – a waterproofing concrete system that combines Preprufe with more than 48,000 sq. ft. of Grace’s Hydroduct CF-drained cavity system.
