The American Society of Plumbing Engineers honored longtimepmecontributorJulius Ballanco, P.E., CPD, FASPE, with the George W. Runkle Award of Merit for his dedication and inspired service to the advancement of the ideals and goals of the society. The award was presented in late October during ASPE’s 2012 Convention & Exposition in Charlotte, N.C.

Ballanco, a frequent featured speaker at ASPE conventions and regional workshops, was ASPE president from 2006-2010 and prior to that held positions on ASPE’s Board of Directors as vice president, technical, and vice president, legislative. He currently is president of the ASPE Research Foundation, which recently completed a groundbreaking study on roof drainage systems with IAPMO. Ballanco is ASPE’s liaison to the IAPMO Plumbing Technical Code Committee and also serves on ICC’s Plumbing, Mechanical and Fuel Gas Council.
