Aquatherm’s polypropylene-random (PP-R), a highly engineered pressure pipe, has been approved by FM Global for use in concealed residential and light-hazard fire sprinkler applications. This high-grade plastic, which is normally found in critical applications in laboratory acid waste drains and hospital-deionized water systems, provides the fire sprinkler industry with several benefits, including no rust, corrosion or scale in the water; quick and long-lasting heat-fusion welding connects; and low pipe friction. The pipe is available in 3/4-inch to 4-inch diameters and is certified for potable water (NSF-61 and NSF-14). The first PP-R pipes approved are Aquatherm Greenpipe and Aquatherm FireStop pipes manufactured by Aquatherm GmbH (Attendorn, Germany).
