FlexHead Industries recently reported that its product helped minimize the damage in a Kohl’s department store after a 6.5 earthquake hit the Bayshore Mall in Eureka, Calif., earlier this year.

According to a report in theEureka Times Standard, the Kohl’s store was the first to reopen in the mall after the disaster. Other stores in the mall had to shut down for days to repair the damage in the sprinkler system. FlexHead reported its product allowed the sprinkler head to move during the quake without causing damage to the sprinkler system. Unfortunately, the shaking breached hard-pipe sprinkler drops protecting the rest of the mall, causing damage estimated at $6 million.
