Geberit, a provider of water-saving plumbing systems, has been named one of the Top 10 in a new study that ranks the world's most sustainable companies.

Geberit, a provider of water-saving plumbing systems, has been named one of the Top 10 in a new study that ranks the world's most sustainable companies. Corporate Knights, a Toronto media company, worked with a research firm to clarify sustainable practices by collecting data on 3,000 global public companies and evaluating them according to 11 different metrics.

Corporate Knights research group worked with two different asset management firms to evaluate the companies based on 10 environmental, social and governance performance metrics, including energy productivity, waste productivity and CEO-to-average-worker pay ratio. An 11th indicator was added for "transparency."

"The honor of being named among the top 10 most sustainable companies further supports and validates Geberit's continuing commitment to being environmentally responsible in everything we do," saidJohn Fitzgerald, VP of Marketing, Geberit North America. "Focus on sustainability is part of our culture."

The 10 most sustainable companies also included General Electric, Pacific Gas and Electric, TNT NV, Hennes & Mauritz, Nokia, Siemens, Unilever, Vodafone and Smiths Group. Geberit is the only plumbing manufacturer to make the list.
