Richard F. Lynch, Ph.D., president of Lynch and Associates, Inc. in Wyckoff, NJ, is the 2002 recipient of the Committee B02 Gary M. Kralik Distinguished Service Award. ASTM Committee B02 on Nonferrous Metals and Alloys confers this award on individuals to recognize exceptional service to the committee, one of its subcommittees, or one of its activities.

Lynch, who also resides in Wyckoff, has been a member of ASTM International since 1982. He is a member of Committees A05 on Metallic-Coated Iron and Steel Products, B01 on Electrical Conductors, B02 on Nonferrous Metals and Alloys, B05 on Copper and Copper Alloys, B07 on Light Metals and Alloys, B08 on Metallic and Inorganic Coatings, D01 on Paint and Related Coatings, Materials, and Applications, F14 on Fences, and F16 on Fasteners. He is also active in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Lynch founded his company, Lynch and Associates, Inc., in 1988. His career has focused on nonferrous metals in applications for zinc in zinc coatings including galvanized steel, organic coatings to protect metal surfaces, and casting, and he serves as an expert witness in these areas.
