Here are the latest happenings from the around the industry.

  • This past summer, Sloan Flushmate® and Mansfield Plumbing Products donated a shipment of pressure-assist toilets to the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers (FCPO) to help the Hurricane Katrina Efforts in Gulfport, MS. Specifically, FCPO members from across North America used these items to help rebuild Gulfport-area homes of police officers and firefighters who have sacrificed personal needs while helping others rebuild their lives.

  • The Water Environment Federation has named JWC Environmental a 2006 WEF Innovative Technology Winner. The company's Monster Separation System® won in the solids handling/disposal category. This award is presented to the WEF member who introduces the most innovative new product or service related to the construction, operation or maintenance of water-pollution-control facilities. Presentation of the award will take place this month at WEFTEC, North America's premiere water quality technical conference and exposition in Dallas, TX. The company also won WEF awards in 1997, 2001 and 2003, making it the only company to receive more than two WEF awards.

  • Grinnell Mechanical Products become a member of the U.S. Green Building Council in July. The U.S. Green Building Council is a leading coalition of builders and developers, product manufacturers, professional and educational institutions and environmental groups working together to promote buildings that are environmentally friendly, profitable, and healthy places to live and work. Green building practices can be established in both existing and new building structures. Through this partnership, Grinnell will be able to participate in green LEED-certified building projects.

  • In August, Flowserve Corp. announced the opening of a new Flowserve Quick Response Center (QRC) in Orland, CA. The QRC is a fully equipped sales and service center that provides localized customer service, maintenance and repair as well as spare parts inventory. The new 16,000-sq.-ft. facility has a staff of technicians, machinists, welders and fabricators, and specializes in vertical pumps used primarily for agricultural, municipal and general industry applications. This new QRC is twice the size of the old facility, which was located in Chico, CA., just a few miles from the new office. The facility provides more space for continued growth and increased efficiency in manufacturing, servicing and repairing pumps up to 20 inches in diameter.
