Flowserve Gestra has announced that its installation of MK Series Zero Steam Loss Traps in a Midwestern petroleum additives company has received the Energy Efficiency Program Award from the American Chemistry Council (ACC).

Flowserve Gestra, supplier of steam trap solutions for the flow control industry, and member company of Flowserve Corp., has announced that its installation of MK Series Zero Steam Loss Traps in a Midwestern petroleum additives company has received the Energy Efficiency Program Award from the American Chemistry Council (ACC). The MK Series Zero Steam Loss traps employ a thermostatic membrane technology to sense temperature differences between steam and condensate, rather than using steam energy to operate its internal control. By switching to the Flowserve Gestra steam trap technology, the petroleum additives plant saw a significant reduction in energy costs over 18 months, with savings of over 718,000 lbs. of steam, which equates to a total cost savings of $630,000.
