Organized by the World Toilet Organization, the
World Toilet Summit & Expo (WTSE) will be held November 4-6 in Macau at the
Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel. The 2008 WTSE will commemorate the International
Year of Sanitation as declared by the United Nations, which hopes to bring
attention to the fact that 40% of the world’s population has no access to
personal sanitation.
The purpose of the WTSE is to provide a platform for solving sanitation issues
for the masses, both in the urban and rural areas. This year’s event will focus
on the lack of funding for sanitation projects worldwide, as well as providing
information and resources for businesses to leverage the huge revenue
potentials that exist in the virtually untapped sanitation market of four
billion people and beyond.
In addition, the International Code Council’s Plumbing, Mechanical & Fuel
Gas Group is sponsoring an education track and the ICC USA pavilion throughout
the event. The first WTSE took place in 2001 in Singapore. Since then, the
summit has been held in Korea, Taiwan, China, Ireland, Russia and India.
