The Plumbing Manufacturers Institute announced that it has received the 2000 Streamlining Achievement Award from the National Conference on States on Building Codes and Standards (NCSBCS) in recognition of PMI's model plumbing product approval program.

The association also announced several major action items proposed at its 2001 Fall Meeting, reconvened Nov. 28-30 in Chicago. The list of items includes:

  • Showerhead & Hand Shower: PMI is collecting comments/concerns about proposed requirements for flexible shower hoses and will be researching the CSA life-cycle test.

  • Faucet & Shower/Tub-Shower: The PMI Board of Directors established a technical liaison with CEIR (the European valve association).

  • Flush Devices/Fixture: the group voted to proceed with the proposal to revise the maximum pressure from 100 to 80 psi in the city of Chicago.

  • Technical Committee: PMI staff will survey members to determine if they have had field experience with chloramine effects. PMI will also be developing a draft petition to ANSI to develop a performance standard for NSF 61 certification programs.
