The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) installed new officers and regional directors at its 2001 Annual Meeting held in Cincinnati June 23-27. The new ASHRAE president is William J. Coad, P.E., a senior principal and past board chairman of McClure Engineering Associates in St. Louis, MO. Coad is also director of Mestek Inc. of Westfield, MA, and Exergen Corp. of Boston, MA. Other officers installed for a one-year term include President-Elect Donald G. Colliver, Ph.D., P.E., associate professor at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY; Treasurer Richard H. Rooley, FREng, principal of Rooley Consultants, Stoke Poges, Bucks, England; Vice President William J. "Joe" Buck, vice president, Engineered Refrigeration Systems Inc., Mobile, AL; Vice President Lee W. Burgett, P.E., vice president/new ventures for The Trane Co., La Crosse, WI; Vice President Julian R. de Bullet, Washington commercial/applied sales manager for Carrier Mid-Atlantic, Herndon, VA; and Vice President Stephen W. Ivesdal, a district general manager for Honeywell, Home and Building Control, Kansas City, MO.

The society also announced that it has published the 2001 ASHRAE Pocket Guide, a general source of hvacr information from the ASHRAE Handbook. Data from Handbook charts, tables, graphs and equations, as well as the 2001 ASHRAE Handbook Fundamentals, is included. New information on ground source heat pumps, air handling, water and steam, water heating and plumbing piping is included as well. The Pocket Guide is published in two editions: one with inch-pound units of measurement and one with International System of Units.
