Issue: 7/01 The 2001 National Fire Protection Association World Fire Safety Congress and Exposition, held May 13-17, attracted 10,210 attendees to the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA. The conference featured product exhibits from 275 manufacturers (see p. 58 for NFPA Product Overview), as well as a range of educational seminars focusing on building and life safety issues, code updates, performance-based design and special hazard concerns.

The NFPA made several announcements at the show, including the following:

  • The association announced the election of three new board members to its board of directors. The new members are H. Wayne Boyd, president and CEO of U.S. Safety & Engineering Corp., an international firm specializing in fire protection, medical and security products; Martin J. Maddaloni, general president of the United Association of Plumbers, Pipefitters and Sprinklerfitters since 1997; and Jaime Moncada-Perez, president of Pirotec Ltd., a fire protection equipment manufacturer in Bogot
