The 2001 International Code Council (ICC) code development hearings will be held March 19-30 in Portland, OR.

The 2000 International Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, Residential, Fire, Fuel Gas, Energy Conservation, Private Sewage Disposal and the ICC Electrical Codes (including the 2001 Supplement) will be on the agenda to consider proposed revisions during the 2001 International Code Council (ICC) code development hearings March 19-30 in Portland, OR. The proceedings also include a hearing on the ICC Performance code final draft, which would add more performance benchmarks to the I-Codes to compliment prescriptive measures. Also, at the International Existing Building Code Committee forum, the committee will be drafting regulations to address improvements and rehabilitation of existing structures. The ICC rules of procedure allow for an assembly vote at the public hearing and to send an assembly action forward in addition to committee action. For the current cycle, the assembly vote has been expanded to allow all members-not just active members-of BOCA, ICBO and SBCCI to vote. Both actions by the committee and assembly, if any, are reported through the public comment process. Because an assembly vote may be taken, voting members must register. Registration is free. Any interested person or group may submit a code change proposal, and all interested parties are invited to participate in the proceedings. A copy of the hearing document is available by written request from BOCA International, Code Development, 4051 W. Flossmoor Rd., Country Club Hills, IL 60478, or e-mail codes@bocai.org. The full content of the proposed change document is also posted on the ICC Web site at www.intlcode.org.
