The National Conference of States on Building Codes and Standards Inc. examined public safety initiatives.

The National Conference of States on Building Codes and Standards, Inc., held in early April, reviewed several national initiatives that affect the health, welfare and safety of the American public in the built environment, including the establishment of the International Academy for Professional Code Administration (IAPCA).

The academy began operations on April 3, with the formation of an advisory board and plans for services it will offer. IAPCA will provide professional code administration personnel, elected officials and the construction community with access to education, training and certification programs that can improve code enforcement agencies and their relationships with the public and private sector.
