Robert Z. Gibson, P.E., died peacefully Jan. 25 at home after a nearly year-long battle with cancer. The 77-year-old Gibson grew-up amongst and worked along side his father in the family-owned business at Gibson Sheet Metal. It was there that he found his love for HVAC Systems. After serving in the Navy, he went on to attend and graduate from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in mechanical engineering with honors and earned his professional license. In 1970, he formed his own consulting firm, which he maintained until 1992, when he decided to downsize to a one-man shop and work out of his home. He was licensed in five states (California, Nevada, Oregon, Arizona and New Mexico), and a member of both ASPE and ASHRAE. In addition he was the first person in the State of California certified to conduct Energy Studies and Analysis. The family has asked that any remembrance be made in honor of Robert Z. Gibson to the Kaiser Morse Avenue Hospice Nurses, 2025 Morse Ave., Sacramento, CA 95825.
