Kenneth F. Yarosh of Dow Corning Corp., and Thomas A. Schwartz, P.E., of Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, Inc., have been elected to the ASTM International Board of Directors for a term beginning in 2006.

Kenneth F. Yarosh, an associate scientist and the European technical manager, Global Construction Industry, for Dow Corning Corp. in Seneffe, Belgium, has been elected to the ASTM International Board of Directors for a three-year term beginning this year.

Yarosh is first vice chairman of ASTM Committee C24 on Building Seals and Sealants and its executive subcommittee; he serves on a number of C24 subcommittees. Yarosh is also a member of three subcommittees within Committee E06 on Performance of Buildings. He participates in many interlaboratory studies and has worked on the development of a number of key standards for the glazing and weatherproofing industry. In addition, he serves as a global liaison between the sealants industry and Committee C24, and he has been a principal author of technical papers for C24 and E06 symposia.

Committee C24 has recognized Yarosh's contributions with Certificates of Appreciation in 1998 and 2000, and with the C24 Sealants Hall of Fame Award in 2001. Yarosh received a 2005 ASTM Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow honoring his contributions to C24.

Thomas A. Schwartz, P.E., president/senior principal and head of the Building Technology Group at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, Inc. (SGH), has also been elected to the ASTM International Board of Directors for a term beginning in 2006.

Schwartz has been honored with a 1994 ASTM International Award of Merit and title of fellow for his contributions to ASTM standards activities. An ASTM International member since 1982, he serves on Committees E06 on Performance of Buildings, C14 on Glass and Glass Products, and E30 on Forensic Sciences. He also leads E06.55 on Exterior Building Wall Systems as its chair and has served as chair of a number of other E06 groups.
