Home » Protocol for Chlorine Testing of Plastic Piping Materials Developed
NSF International and Jana Laboratories Inc. have announced the first certification program for plastic piping materials to a protocol establishing minimum requirements for chlorine resistance. The protocol, “Chlorine Resistance of Plastic Piping Materials,” was developed by NSF at the request of members of the plastics piping industry in order to address concerns over the ability of some materials to resist exposure to the levels of chlorine commonly found in drinking water.
Products meeting the requirements of the NSF protocol for chlorine resistance are authorized to bear the NSF mark followed by the designation Cl (for products meeting the requirements for use in domestic continuous recirculation systems) and Cl-TD (for products meeting the requirements for use in traditional, non-recirculating domestic systems). Copies of the protocol are available for purchase from NSF. For more information, call (734) 769-8010.
