ASHRAE’s 2014 Annual Conference takes place June 28-July 2 in Seattle.

The “Ground Source Heat Pumps State of the Art: Design, Performance and Research” track addresses all aspects of design that lead to optimally performing systems while avoiding common pitfalls that lead to poorly performing systems. The track was organized by ASHRAE, the National Ground Water Association, the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association and the Geothermal Exchange Organization.
According to DOE, the Building Energy Codes Program has saved more than $44 billion in the 20 years since its implementation. The report also estimates that by 2040 it will have helped building owners save up to $230 billion in utility bills and 3.995 million tons in carbon savings.
ASPE appointed Cory Powers to the new position of ASPE Young Professionals Liaison to the ASPE Board of Directors

Powers has a nonvoting position and will give ASPE’s young members more representation at the national leadership level. Powers will ensure the AYP members’ needs are met with the proper education, networking and mentoring opportunities.
International Code Council hired Michael Gardner as its executive vice president of compliance programs.

Gardner will coordinate strategic efforts, bulid industry relationships and expand value for clients and manufacturers. He will identify new opportunites to help ICC leverage knowledge and technical expertise to help clients navigate the complexities around the supply chain, from compliance and regulatory issues to market acceptance.
