Apple Valley, Minn.-based Uponor North America signed an agreement to purchase an existing 237,000-sqaure-foot manufacturing facility and office space in Hutchinson, Minn. The $6.35 million investment is located nearly 70 miles west of the company’s headquarters in Apple Valley.

Uponor expects closing on the purchase to occur in late August and for the building to become operational by early 2019. The facility will be renovated to manufacture Uponor PEX pipe and will be committed to high environmental and sustainability standards, the company noted.

“Uponor is seeing unprecedented product demand as a result of continued growth in commercial and residential construction,” President of Uponor North America Bill Gray said. “This investment will allow Uponor to increase production capacity as we build a future on innovation, education and advocacy to better serve our customers while also growing the state’s manufacturing workforce.”

In other Uponor news, the company was named one of the top 150 workplaces in Minnesota by the Star-Tribune, ranking 18th on the large-size company list. This is Uponor’s fifth year in a row earning top 150 recognition.
