In addition to the products mentioned in my previous Blog: 2016 AHR Expo, here are a few more products from the AHR Expo floor that impressed me. Read more from the AHR Expo in this month’s feature.
Potable water tubing
Legendnow manufactures HyperPure PE-RT (polyethylene raised temperature) tubing for potable water systems. HyperPure tubing is strong, flexible and pure — the first flexible plastic hot and cold potable water tube that is 100% recyclable, Legend notes. Available in 1/4” to 2” coils and 20-ft. lengths.
Pre-insulated PEX piping from Uponor
Uponor offers a new, pre-insulated Ecoflex Potable PEX pipe system for underground applications that provides energy-efficient freeze protection in cold climates. Ecoflex features a 1 1/4” service pipe with a 7 W/ft. heat-trace cable that runs the entire length of pipe. Ecoflex is surrounded by multilayer PEX-foam insulation and covered by a corrugated, waterproof HDPE jacket.
Digital water mixing and recirculation system
Powers — a Watts Water Technologies company -- displayed the IntelliStation, a smart delivery system that allows managers of commercial and institutional facilities to ensure safe and efficient tempered water delivery. It is ASSE 1017 listed and provides fast-response digital temperature regulation of domestic water within +/-2° F. It is easily configurable and does not require factory programming or the use of a laptop computer and proprietary software. A smart controller with a 3.5” full-color touchscreen interface displays nearly 200 combinations of critical data. It also features a Sanitization mode.
Split system heat pumps
Designed specifically for the new construction and replacement/retrofit market, the small footprint LV Split System heat pump from Bosch Thermotechnologycomes in eight sizes – 1.5 through 6 tons – and allows the condensing section to be placed remotely from the air handler section. This allows the unit to be placed where there is limited space or where the condenser needs to be located away from occupied areas to minimize noise impacts.
HDPE coupling
Victaulic’s Style 905 Refuse-to-Fuse HDPE coupling installs without the need to disassemble the unit and can be installed 10 times faster than traditional fusing. The coupling can be properly installed using an impact gun or standard socket wrench with no special training or regular certification. The Style 905 is available in 2” to 6” sizes, requires no heating or cooling time and can be installed on new, used or dirty pipes. Victaulic. www.victaulic.com
16-SEER heat pump
Johnson Controls’ new York LX Series 16 SEER heat pump features advanced modulating technology proven over five years in an accelerated test facility and more than 215,000 hours of research. The York LX reduces the speed of the compressor and decreases the airflow to allow the system to operate longer without over-cooling the space, improving dehumidification.
Hot water recirculation system
Armstrong Fluid Technologyunveiled a new version of its Astro 2 hot water recirculation pumps, which can save more than 12,000 gallons of water per year. Astro 2 circulators are suitable for use in a three-pipe installation with a dedicated return. Other enhancements include: larger, easier-to-service electrical enclosure that has an integrated timer assembly, a timer accessory kit and a five-year warranty.
