Web Case Study! PA State Correctional Institution Gets Steam System Back-Up from Miura
Reliable steam supply is just one of many serious problems a correctional institution must address when demanding fail-safe system design. But it was one of particular concern to the company, Fayette Thermal, that is under contract with the PA Department of Corrections to supply steam to the new 672,000-square-foot State Correctional Institution Fayette.
The state decided to locate the institution on top of a four-hundred-foot precipice that borders the Monongahela River, where the nearest town is on the other side of the river and the nearest bridge nine miles away. At the base of the precipice, there is a small ferry, one of the few remaining cable ferries in the country, and only small communities populate the area around the facility, making it an isolated location.
