"It has always been my ambition to one day lead the Society as President," he said in his letter of nomination. "By deciding to run for the position of Secretary/Treasurer, I intend to begin my journey to the Presidency. In the future, my interest would be in the positions of Vice President-Legislative and Vice President-Technical. I believe that my background and experience qualify me for these positions."
Ballanco continued, "Our current and past officers have brought the Society to its present day position as the well-known, leading authority for the plumbing engineering community. I would like to be a part of the group that will clearly establish the Society as a peer among the other engineering and architectural societies.
"Being the Secretary/Treasurer is an important part of the plan in moving the Society forward. While some consider the Treasurer part of the position as one to just look at financial figures, I do not. As a business owner for the past eight years, I know the importance of the financial picture of a business. I also understand the importance of using financial status to develop a long-term business plan. Without proper financial backing, you cannot advance any business, including the Society. As Secretary/Treasurer, I would like to establish a strong financial backing for the future advancements of ASPE."
Voting is slated to take place October 26 at the ASPE convention in Indianapolis.
