In-Sink-Erator and the NAHB Women's Council recently honored several members with scholarships in recognition of their recruitment efforts during 2004.

During the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) International Builders Conference in Orlando, In-Sink-Erator and the NAHB Women's Council honored several members with scholarships in recognition of their recruitment efforts during 2004.

The Spikette Awards program helps encourage talented, motivated young people to enter the building industry through scholarship grants co-funded by In-Sink-Erator and the NAHB Women's Council. The grants are used by each winner's local Women's Council chapter to provide financial assistance to worthy students in their area pursuing degrees relevant to a career in building.

Winners of the Robert M Cox Spikette of the Nation Awards were announced by NAHB Women's Council President Joanne Theunissen. Jeannie Williams of Arkansas was named top recruiter and winner of the National Spikette Award and a $500 scholarship grant. The following regional award winners received a $300 scholarship grant and a special pin:

    Northeast Region A: Donna Dupuis, Women's Council of New Hampshire;

    Southeast Region B: Amy Calhoun of the Greater Montgomery BA Women's Council;

    Midwest Region C: Yvonne Lowry of the HBA of Livingston County, MI;

    Midwest, Mid-South and Texas Region D: Debbie James of the Central Oklahoma BA; and

    American West Region E: Karen Dry of the Southern California Women's Council and owner of Garrett Interiors.

    Spikette Rookies of the Year ($500 scholarship grant) went to: Kathleen Kramer and Shari Walters of the Northern California Women's Council.
