Ashkin Group Program Accepted by USGBC
A new sustainability workshop, "The Operational Approach to Sustainability," has been accepted into the U.S. Green Building Council's Education Provider Program. This half-day workshop was developed by Stephen Ashkin, president of the Ashkin Group, and Cynthia Schultz, the organization's director of sustainability practices. The workshop includes four group exercises: defining sustainability; understanding the three components of sustainability (environmental, social, economic); identifying sustainability indicators; and developing a prioritized "action plan" to implement a sustainable program.
HFH Receives Largest Donation Ever From an Individual Habitat for Humanity International has announced a $100 million commitment by J. Ronald Terwilliger. The group estimates that this single legacy gift will help 60,000 families with access to improved housing conditions. "There are more than 1.6 billion people around the world who live in poverty housing and they need our help," said Terwilliger, who was CEO of Trammell Crow Residential - the nation's largest multi-family housing developer - before retiring in 2008.

Stiebel Eltron has named Doug Belden western regional sales
manager and Glenn Isaac eastern regional sales manager. Belden was formerly with Ferguson Enterprises and has more than 15 years experience in the plumbing/HVAC mechanical arena. Isaac was formerly with Bosch as national account manager and eastern regional sales manager, and has more than 20 years of tankless water heater experience.
Heat Transfer Products recently announced two key appointments to the company's executive management team. Todd Romig, head of HTP operations since Dec. 2007, has been appointed vice president of sales and marketing, while Jon Lyons [photo] has succeeded him as vice president of operations.
Romig is responsible for driving increased sales and market share throughout North America and in various export markets. A veteran operations executive with extensive training in quality management, Lyons will be responsible for HTP manufacturing, purchasing, scheduling, parts, warehousing and shipping functions.
Mestek, Inc. has announced that John Looes is mid-Atlantic regional sales manager for distributor products. Looes will oversee the company's sales efforts for Hydrotherm, RBI, Smith, Ray, Sterling and Beacon Morris. Previously a member of the Mestek's commercial sales team, Looes rejoins Mestek following 8 years experience with a manufacturers rep organization. |

National Disaster Reconstruction Expo & Conference to Debut In June
National disaster recovery and reconstruction experts headline the first National Disaster Reconstruction Expo's (NDRExpo) conference program, which launches June 17-18, 2009, at the Morial New Orleans Convention Center. The NDRExpo was developed to unite the numerous vertical markets associated with disaster preparation, response, recovery and rebuilding.
Keynote Address
FEMA's Assistant Administrator of Mitigation is scheduled to provide the NDRExpo's keynote address. As part of the agency's National Mitigation Directorate, the Administrator manages the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and programs designed to reduce future natural disaster-related losses. The keynote address will focus on how, through the National Mitigation Directorate, FEMA seeks to break the cycle of disaster damage, reconstruction and repeated damage.
General Sessions
AidMatrix Foundation's President and CEO, and former Wisconsin Governor, Scott McCallum is scheduled to lead Wednesday's General Session. AidMatrix Foundation is a nonprofit that uses advanced information technology to create efficiencies between donors and those in need, managing $1.5 billion annually with operations in six continents to 35,000 nonprofits.
Scheduled General Session speakers include Col. Alvin B. "Al" Lee, the New Orleans District's 60th commander and district engineer, and the Restoration Industry Association's (RIA) executive director Don Manger and development adviser & facilitator G. Pete Consigli, CR, WLS.

has unveiled the RTG-66X outdoor residential tankless water heater. The unit is engineered to meet the hot-water needs of a conventional two-bath residence situated in the Sunbelt or in a coastal area within the Southern half of the United States. With inputs ranging from 11,000 to 180,000 BTU/hour, the RTG-66X can deliver hot water at a continual flow rate of 6.6 gpm when the temperature differential from cold to hot is 45°F. At a lower temperature rise of 35°F, it will deliver 8.4 gpm; and at a 60°F rise, 5.0 gpm. |
