New Leaders Elected for ASSEASSE logo
Richard J. Prospal has been elected international president of the American Society of Sanitary Engineering and Ken Van Wagnen hired to serve as the administrative manager. Other officers elected are Ron Murray, James Bickford, Donald R. Summers, Jr., John F. Flader and Joseph Fugelo. Elected to the Board of Directors are Don Kool, Donald Reichartz, John T. Jordan, Jr., Richard H. Morin, Kevin Fennell, Edward J. Lyczko, Sean Cleary and Robert D. Tesar.

Program Helps Educate Construction Industry About BIM Benefits
The Associated General Contractors of America has launched an educational program to give engineers and other construction professionals a broad understanding of the Building Information Modeling process. BIM 101: An Introduction to Building Information Modeling , is the first of six planned courses in the BIM Education Program series. Courses can be taken at any of the association's 95 chapters, in addition to a range of construction firms and educational institutions. Manufacturers' Update:   A.O. Smith Corp. has acquired Applied Energy Recovery Systems Inc. (AERS) of Norcross, GA., a manufacturer of commercial and residential heat pump water heaters. The AERS product line includes the E-Tech line of commercial and industrial water heaters, as well as commercial outdoor and indoor pool heating systems... ITT Corp. will acquire Laing GmbH of Germany, a privately held producer of energy-efficient circulator pumps primarily used in residential and commercial plumbing and HVAC systems. European Union rules are expected to soon require the rating of circulators in an effort to save energy, particularly A-class rated circulators, which will be offered by ITT upon completion of the acquisition...Chicago Faucets recently announced that its management systems have achieved ISO 9001:2008/ISO 14001:2004 certification of its U.S. headquarters in Des Plaines, IL, and three manufacturing sites. ISO 9001/ISO 14001 are widely recognized international standards, which provide a framework for effective quality and environmental management systems.

Appointments

Caroma recently announced the appointment of Eddie Wilcut as national water conservation manager. Wilcut's responsibilities in this new position include assisting the efforts of local representatives and master distributors in delivering successful results with local water authorities, governments, etc. He will also be focusing on industry-specific sectors, such as hotels and educational institutions, to educate on water conservation and how programs can be implemented to conserve water resources. 

Harvel Plastics, Inc., has recently appointed sales veteran Gary Boushell as national sales manager for its PVC and CPVC plumbing products division. A member of the Harvel sales team for more than 20 Gary Boushell years, Boushell [photo] brings to his new position in-depth market knowledge and comprehensive understanding of the plastics industry. He will work closely with both the fire sprinkler and industrial products divisions of Harvel.

Spartan Tool L.L.C. recently announced that Keith Nesky has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president of sales, North America. Nesky joins Spartan from Barnes Distribution in Cleveland, OH, where he was vice president, sales for the northeast US. Prior to his time at Barnes, Nesky was vice president, sales for Wurth USA.

National Disaster Reconstruction Expo & Conference to Debut In June

National disaster recovery and reconstruction experts headline the first National Disaster Reconstruction Expo's (NDRExpo) conference program, which launches June 17-18, 2009, at the Morial New Orleans Convention Center. The NDRExpo was developed to unite the numerous vertical markets associated with disaster preparation, response, recovery and rebuilding.

Keynote Address
FEMA's Assistant Administrator of Mitigation is scheduled to provide the NDRExpo's keynote address. As part of the agency's National Mitigation Directorate, the Administrator manages the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and programs designed to reduce future natural disaster-related losses. The keynote address will focus on how, through the National Mitigation Directorate, FEMA seeks to break the cycle of disaster damage, reconstruction and repeated damage.

General Sessions
AidMatrix Foundation's President and CEO, and former Wisconsin Governor, Scott McCallum is scheduled to lead Wednesday's General Session. AidMatrix Foundation is a nonprofit that uses advanced information technology to create efficiencies between donors and those in need, managing $1.5 billion annually with operations in six continents to 35,000 nonprofits.

Scheduled General Session speakers include Col. Alvin B. "Al" Lee, the New Orleans District's 60th commander and district engineer, and the Restoration Industry Association's (RIA) executive director Don Manger and development adviser & facilitator G. Pete Consigli, CR, WLS.
