McGuire Mfg. Presents Awards at ASPE Event
McGuire Mfg. Co. presented two awards at the most recent American Society of Plumbing McGuire Award--Dobbin SalesEngineers
 Engineered Plumbing Exposition. The top right photo shows Bruce Laing (left), president of Dobbin Sales Ltd., with Brian Suriner, natl. sales mgr. of McGuire Mfg. Co. Dobbin received the Top Brass Sales Award. Also receiving an award from McGuire was Edward R. Stephen Co, Inc. Viega Wins ASPE Industry Award
ASPE has presented the 2008 ASPE Industry Award to Viega for providing "outstanding service to the advancement of plumbing engineering technology." Surrounded by friends, colleagues and even a few competitors, Viega CEO Dan Schmierer accepted the award on behalf of the company during the ASPE Engineered Plumbing Exposition.


Consolidated ISH-NA Highlights Renewable Energies
ISH North America marked its fifth edition with its Oct. 1-3 trade show at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Reflective of the trend toward cleaner building and environmentally conscious construction, the 2008 show highlighted the growing demand in renewable energies. Attendees numbered in the thousands and included contractors, wholesalers, and manufacturers' reps. An extensive seminar program also was presented.

Appointments

Reliable Automatic Sprinkler Co. has announced the promotion of Brian Coyle  to regional sales manager of the Mid-Atlantic Region. Coyle has been a sales representative for more than six years in the New York area. As regional sales manager, he is now responsible for all sales and operations for customers in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, DC.

Lochinvar Corp. has promoted Stirling Boston [photo] to director of marketing. Boston Stirling Boston began his career with Lochinvar in 2000 as a sales representative in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.  After serving as district sales manager for the greater Dallas area, he was promoted to regional sales manager in 2003.  

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has appointed Randy Safer of Gallatin, TN, as southern regional manager, replacing Olin Greene who is retiring after 15 years. Safer will work toward improving fire, building, and life safety in his region by working with local authorities, to promote NFPA services and the adoption of NFPA codes and standards. He will also support research and public education.

Polypropylene Pressure Piping System Aquatherm
Aquatherm Greenpipe (formerly Fusiotherm) is a polypropylene pressure piping system, designed for hot and cold potable water and food-grade applications. Combining excellent physical strength with high chemical purity, Greenpipe offers high quality and excellent performance and is fully recyclable. The system uses a simple heat fusion connection to eliminate toxic materials, glues and resins, and open flames from the piping installation equation. It also creates seamless connections that, when properly executed, last a lifetime.

Viking--VK501Dry ESFR Sprinkler For Cold Storage
Viking introduces the VK501 dry ESFR pendent sprinkler for freezer and cold storage environments. This innovative sprinkler combines dry sprinkler technology with the fire suppression benefits of an ESFR (early suppression fast response) sprinkler. The patent-pending VK501 sprinkler is cULus listed for use with wet systems and has a K factor of 14.0. This sprinkler is supplied from a wet system installed in a heated space and offered in a single length of 36 inches. The 165°F sprinkler is available standard with a 2-inch grooved connection. A 1-1/2-inch threaded version is also available.

Furnace Can Be Combined With Radiant Heating System Aspen Series
The Aspen Series outdoor wood furnaces (Models 175 and 350) by Greenwood Technologies LLC are high-efficiency units that can be combined with a radiant, baseboard, forced-air or other space-heating heating system as a way to significantly reduce heating bills. The Model 175 has an 8-hour sustained output of 110,000 BTUH and a maximum rated output of 230,000 BTUH. For the Model 350, it's 270,000 BTUH and 420,000 BTUH, respectively. Both models operate cleanly by burning wood completely and leaving virtually no particles to create smoke or ash.
