Ace Hardware

Ace Hardware has released the results of a recent survey it among homeowners. Interestingly, it showed one in four Americans plans to tackle home improvement projects in the next six months, and that they plan to spend an average of $1,000 on these projects.

The survey also revealed that the Internet has taken over as the chief information resource for two out of three homeowners (66%). This is a “dramatic increase,” according to Ace, up from the 41% reported in 2005. Besides the Internet, homeowners ask family (49%) and friends (46%) while seeking advice on a variety of topics.

In addition, 25% of homeowners agreed that enhancing the value of their home and improving their quality of life are the primary reasons for starting home improvement projects. More women (18%) than men (11%) cited wanting a change as a third reason to take on a project.
